Nepal beckons the adventure seeker, shopper, wildlife lover and photographer in you. Capital city Kathmandu is your starting point. To get in touch with your spiritual side, visit one of the many temples or monasteries, well-known or tucked into bylanes. Love old architecture? A visit to the palaces might be in order. Or walk around the numerous bazaars and score a sweet deal through some bargaining.

Chitwan National Park, where you go next, is Nepal’s most high profile reserve. The best way to explore it is on either elephant back or in a canoe. One-horned rhinos, tigers, leopards, sloth bears and numerous species of birds call this dense forest their home.

From enchantment, it is on to enlightenment. Lumbini is the birthplace of Siddhartha Gautam, the Shakya prince who later became Buddha, the Enlightened One. UNESCO lists this nativity site, identified by Indian Emperor Ashoka’s commemorative pillar, as a world heritage site. The main attraction of Lumbini remains the sacred garden, possessing all the treasures of the historic area.

Up next is another historical town. Tansen often referred to by old residents as Palpa, is far removed from the regular tourist trail and therein lies its charm. Its location, high above the Kali Gandaki river, its old wooden houses, handicrafts, and textiles make travelling to this hill station worthwhile.

Magnificent views are part of the charm of Pokhara as well. The Himalayas, barely 20km away, appear as if they are within touching distance. The Phewa Lake, with only paddle boats breaking the surface of its serene water, is one of Pokhara’s main attractions.

Switching back to history is Bandipur, a town located on a 1,000-metre-high ridge. It’s a window into daily Nepalese Newari culture and their life and explores the numerous temples.

The final stop, before the tour ends at Kathmandu, is Nagarkot. It is known for its sunrise views of Mount Everest. Located just 32km from Kathmandu, it also offers panoramic views of the capital city.

Our  Tour features the following locations

KATHMANDU: The capital of the ancient mountain kingdom of Nepal, Kathmandu has the air of a medieval city including a labyrinth of narrow streets, wooden temples and beautifully decorated palaces. In the background, there is often a gentle sound of cymbals and the markets are a rich blend of colours and aromas. Only in the 1950s was Nepal opened up to visitors and today there is a thorough mixture of modern technology and traditional lifestyles making the city a fascinating place to visit. Nepal needs tourist numbers to increase to levels before the fatal earthquake, so support Nepal, contact us to advise a bespoke tour for you.

CHITWAN NATIONAL PARK: Chitwan is one of the finest national parks in Asia, renowned for its concentration of wildlife and top class tourist lodges, which provide the opportunity to see animals in their natural habitat. Chitwan, which means the ‘heart of the jungle, ’ is amongst the last surviving example of the continuous band of forests and grasslands, which once extended from the Indus River in Pakistan to the Burmese border. Chitwan National Park is listed in the UNESCO World Heritage Site (natural) list. Visitors to Chitwan may enjoy elephant back excursions, nature walks, canoe trips and jungle treks. There are several authorised agencies to organise such safaris. Visitors may also take a river raft.

LUMBINI: Lumbini, the birthplace of Siddhartha Gautam. The Shakya prince and the ultimate Buddha, the Enlightened One, is the pilgrimage destination of the world’s millions of people faithful to all schools of Buddhism. UNESCO lists this nativity site, identified by Indian Emperor Ashoka’s commemorative pillar as a World Heritage Site. The main attraction of Lumbini remains the Sacred Garden which spread over 8sq km, possessing all the treasures of the historic area. The Mayadevi temple is the main attraction for pilgrims and archaeologists alike. Here we find a bas relief of Mayadevi, Lord Buddha’s mother giving birth to him.

TANSEN: A Beautiful Hill Station in the western part of Nepal, Tansen is amongst a few towns outside the capital which bear a rich legacy of the traditional art and architecture, the town is also known for its Ginger production. Perched on the lap of the spectacular Srinagar Hill, Tansen commands a gorgeous panorama of the Himalayas as well as the plains of Terai. Located at an elevation of 1310 metres, Tansen is a pleasant place to visit during any season of the year. Tansen is famous for various kinds of handicrafts, textile and organic coffee. Karuwa, a water jug made of bronze, typical Nepali cap & shawl made of Dhaka textile are legendary souvenirs from Tansen.

POKHARA: Pokhara, an enchanting city, nestled in the tranquil valley (827m), is the starting point for many of Nepal’s most popular trekking and rafting destinations. The serenity of Phewa Lake and the magnificence of the fish trail summit of Machachhapuchhre (6,977m) rising behind it create an ambience of peace and magic. The valley surrounding Pokhara is home to thick forests, gushing rivers, clear lakes and the world famous views of the Himalaya. Situated 200 km west of Kathmandu, Pokhara is connected by air as well as by road from Kathmandu and Bhairawa, a border town near India. Pokhara offers magnificent views of Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Machchhapuchhre, five peaks of Annapurna and others.

BANDIPUR: Bandipur, a beautiful town untouched by modernisation, was once part of the trade route to between India and Tibet until bypassed by the Prithvi Hwy in the 1960s. Located on a ridge 1,000 metres high, with wonderful views of the Himalayas and the Marsyanngdi river valley. Witness daily Nepalese Newari culture and their life, and explore the numerous temples.
